9th November, 2019, on behalf of College of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Zhejiang University(ZJU CBE), 14 teachers and 41 students went to Orlando, USA and participated in the AIChE 2019, the most influential conference in the global chemical industry. Some teachers also visited Stanford University and had in-depth communication with Stanford Chemical Engineering Department on scientific cooperation and personnel training.
This AIChE 2019 attracted nearly 15,000 scholars from related disciplines in chemical engineering and other related fields, with more than 100 branch venues. During the annual meeting, ZJU CBE delegation made 39 oral reports on topics such as Polymer Reaction Engineering, Oxygen and Hydrogen Photocatalysis and Electrocatalysis, the Novel Electrocatalyst and so on. 16 outstanding posters were displayed in the fields of Catalysis and Reaction Engineering, Materials Engineering & Sciences (Polymers) and Fundamentals and Applications of Adsorption and Ion Exchange, etc. Members of the delegation also participated in hundreds of leading-edge chemical industry seminars in more than 50 sub-venues, and chaired one session. In addition, some teachers also participated in the 110th anniversary of the AIChE interview and the I & ECR editorial board meeting.
On the evening of 11th November, ZJU CBE held the 11th ZJU CBE Reception in Conjunction with AIChE since 2009. Dozens of well-known scholars and experts from world’s top universities and multinational companies attended the conference, including Academician Karen Gleason, former deputy dean of MIT, and Eric Shaqfeh, former chairman of the Chemical Engineering Department of Stanford University, and Prof. Monty Alger, Chairman of AIChE.
On 15th November, 5 teachers including WANG Wenjun and YAO Zhen visited Stanford University and communicated with Academician Eric Shaqfeh, Academician Gerry Fuller, and Professor Stacey Bent from Stanford Chemical Engineering Department. During the communication, they confirmed the cooperative research topics and specific itinerary of academicians and professors of Stanford visiting ZJU CBE. Some teachers of the delegation also visited Stanford’s Undergraduate Scientific Research Experimental Center to learn more about the innovative measures and achievements in cultivating scientific research capabilities of undergraduate.
