On April 6, Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Brunei’s Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, paid a visit to Zhejiang University. REN Shaobo, Chairman of the Zhejiang University Council, hosted a meeting and dialogue with the visiting delegation.
Chairman REN Shaobo extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He noted that Zhejiang University has long been committed to promoting educational exchanges and cooperation with Brunei. Over the years, Zhejiang University has made significant strides in joint talent cultivation and scientific research. Chairman Ren also emphasized the success of the innovative “university-university-enterprise” collaborative model, established in partnership with Universiti Brunei Darussalam and Hengyi Group. Looking ahead, he expressed Zhejiang University’s commitment to continuing its role as a bridge in strengthening ties between China and Brunei, particularly in higher education and scientific innovation, thus contributing further to the development of the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
Dato Dr.Amin Liew expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and lauded Zhejiang University for its remarkable achievements. He highlighted the strong and enduring relationship between Brunei and China, marked by frequent high-level exchanges and close cooperation in education and economic development. This partnership, he noted, has driven significant progress in Brunei’s technological innovation and social welfare. He affirmed the Brunei government’s strong support for ongoing joint initiatives with Zhejiang University, Hengyi Group, and Universiti Brunei Darussalam in cultivating talent and establishing joint research laboratories, and expressed optimism for even more fruitful outcomes in the future.
