1. Engineering Research Center for High Pressure Process Equipment and Safety (MOE)

Engineering Research Center for High Pressure Process Equipment and Safety (MOE) is jointly founded by national key disciplines in chemical process equipment and chemical engineering. The preparation for establishing the center was initiated in 2009 and the technical committee was established in 2011. The current research covers key technologies, standards, and industrialization of high pressure process equipment in the fields of energy, water resource, aerospace, and process industry. The center is led by Prof. Jinyang ZHENG, Prof. Leqin WANG, Prof. Duyi YE, and Prof. Xi LI. The director of the technical committee is Prof. Jue ZHONG, a Fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The center emphasizes design theories and methods for high pressure equipment, fabrication and system integration of high pressure equipment, scaling-up of high pressure reactors, and optimum, control and safety technologies for high pressure equipment. The center has carried out many projects including those supported by 973 program, 863 program, National Key Technology R&D Program, Science and Technology Strategy Program of Zhejiang Province, and international collaboration program, and has developed a number of important process equipment, such as high power transient pump, 70MPa gaseous hydrogen vessel and high pressure seawater desalination pump etc. The center has won 1 National Invention Awards, 9 Provincial or Ministerial Awards, and about 20 patents.

3. Engineering Research Center of Membrane and Water Treatment Technology(MOE)

Engineering Research Center of Membrane and Water Treatment Technology of Zhejiang University (MOE) is jointly founded by Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering and Department of Polymer Science and Engineering. The preparation for establishing the center was initiated in 2001 and the center was approved to be in function by Ministry of Education in 2004. The director of the center is Prof. Congjie GAO, a Fellow of Chinese Academy of Engineering. The center has an innovative work team, including 6 professors, 6 associate professors and senior engineers, 8 lecturers and engineers, and more than 70 graduate students. The center takes up 650 square meters for research and another 2000 square meters as pilot plant. 

In the last ten years, the center has got many funds from our government, including the National Basic Research Program of China, the National Sustain Plan Program of China, Important National Science & Technology Specific Projects et al, published more than 1000 articles, got nearly 100 invention patents and more than 10 provincial and ministerial achievements awards.

The center focuses on the synthesis of functional materials, the preparation of membrane and membrane applications, in particular solving key issues in product development. Strong connection has been set up between the center and enterprises. The goal is to develop membrane products with independent intellectual property rights, which will greatly contribute to energy-saving emission reduction, effective use of water resources, insurance of the potable water safety, and improvement of ecological environment.
